Trait Guide / FAQ

People always have questions about traits, so I wanted to make a comprehensive list that should answer most questions! If it doesn't, feel free to note the group and ask!

Snakatoo
Shared themes are allowed so long as the 'Toos look different enough.Fictional foods can be used as a theme.Hair can be dyed/changed without a trait.Worldly Snakatoo cannot have any Corrupt traits.Corrupt Snakatoo can have both Worldly and Corrupt traits, but must have at least 2-3 Corrupt. If using the Skull Head trait, no other face traits are required.Elemental Training traits are rare, while Elemental Advanced traits are ARPG exclusive.Snakatoo cannot have traits from two different elements.Ascended traits are rare for MYOs. MYO Snakatoo may only have one Ascended trait.Hellprince traits are exclusive to Corrupt 'Toos, and Astralon traits are exclusive to Worldly 'Toos. The Astralon trait 'Extra Tail' only allows one extra tail. In order to have more than 2 tails, you would need to use another rare trait on it.Illegal traits are allowed on all MYO slots. You only need to have the proper rarity.Illegal traits can be gone wild with, however these will bar your 'Too from the ARPG.Shapeshifting Snakatoo can only shift into other animals, and must be recognizable as the same Snakatoo.

Other Species
Generally, subspecies must be about the same size as is shown in the height chart.Almost all subspecies can have the same traits as Snakatoo, with Tunneltoo and Snakagryphs being the only exceptions.Only Snakatoo, Dwarf 'Toos, Goliath 'Toos, Munchkin 'Toos, Microtoo, Tooraria, Clonetoo, and Splicetoo can be Corrupt.Snakataurs can be mixed with Goliath 'Toos, Dwarf 'Toos, or Munchkin 'Toos.Tooraria and Clonetoo can be mixed with any other subspecies.Collector 'Toos have a maximum collection limit of 15.Collector 'Toos may collect any other subspecies besides Splicetoo, Royal 'Too, Mythictoo, and Tribal 'Too.

ARPG Requirements
Must only use Worldly and Corrupt traits.Corrupt 'Toos must have exactly 2 Corrupt traits. Can be Snakatoo, Dwarf 'Too, or Goliath 'Too - but must be lore-oriented.Can have clothing or accessories, but must be lore-oriented. (Medieval style.)Cannot be named anything offensive or have offensive themes/imagery.

Worldly and Corrupt Traits

Worldly traits can be used on any MYO slot, and Corrupt traits can be used on most MYO slots.

Elemental Traits

While they were originally going to all be exclusive to the ARPG, I felt as though that limited the creation of normal 'Toos somewhat and decided to make them a bit easier to access.
Belzei, Nyar, and Stram traits are all rare, and are allowed in MYOs.Flighfer, Bubwix, and Denizen traits are currently exclusive to the ARPG.MYO slots cannot use more than one element on a Snakatoo.

Ascended Traits

Ascended traits are generally only available through the ARPG, though they may be acquired during events or by other means. They are their own tier above rare, and MYO Snakatoo outside the ARPG may only have one Ascended trait.
(Adopts, Customs, and other admin-made Snakatoo have a cap of 3 Ascended traits. Astralon and Hellprince may not be mixed.)

Illegal Traits

Due to popular demand, I've decided that "Illegal Traits" will not only stay in the system, but will become something more. Just as Elemental traits were originally going to be ARPG-exclusive, Illegal traits will be completely barred from the ARPG, but can be used freely outside of it. They have the same rarity system as Worldly or Corrupt traits, and for the most part can be used on either.
While Illegal traits are their own thing, you do still need to have the proper rarity available in order to claim an Uncommon or Rare Illegal trait on your MYO design.
After some thought, I've decided that almost anything can be an illegal trait so long as it's asked about first. They fall under the same rarity categories, which are based fully on lore and how feasible of a mutation it is, how likely it is to actually happen in Snakatoo canon.

Common Illegal Traits
Common Illegal Traits are classified as anything that could be feasibly found in the real world.
Tails or parts of other animals, abilities such as color-changing fur, or even an extra head.
So long as you can find an example of it in the real world and it's not already a trait, it's Common.

Uncommon Illegal Traits
Uncommon Illegal Traits are classified as being fictional but still natural in effect.
Edible or living tails, elemental magical abilities, natural growths, shapeshifting, etc.
So long as it doesn't tie into anything manmade, it's still Uncommon.

Rare Illegal Traits
Rare Illegal Traits are the final category, and most everything else falls under this.
In general, Rare traits are ones that are artificial in nature, such as items replacing body parts.
Anything that is generally achieved through human interference would be a Rare Illegal Trait.

MYO Creation Guide

Need help designing your Snakatoo? This guide should fix that!
If you have any questions, feel free to note the DeviantART Group about them!

1: Worldly or Corrupt
Before you can start, you need to decide which path your 'Too will take. There are two main types of Snakatoo, and they both have their pros and cons. For some, it comes down to pure aesthetic - for others, it's the lore they're thinking of. Either way, this is an important decision.
Worldly 'Toos are capable of evolving into many different forms, and make up about 60% of the population. All of them are friendly and most are happy to help any passers-by. There wouldn't be a civilization on Evelyyan without Worldly 'Toos to colonize it.
Corrupt 'Toos used to be feared and hated due to their looks, and while this has changed along with the culture of Evelyyan, they are still often bad-tempered and solitary. They have the potential to become something truly evil, or to prove themselves to have just a good a heart as any Worldly 'Too.
Whichever you choose, it will change the road ahead for your Snakatoo.

2: Finding Your Inspiration
All Snakatoo are based on food! The first thing you should do is find some food that interests you, some great places to find them are Pinterest and Google.
The types of food allowed differ depending on whether you're making a Corrupt 'Too or a Worldly 'Too, so be sure you're picking one that's just right for your 'Too!
(Snakatoo can now be based on copyrighted characters, but please be sure to read the copyright guide found below for more information on this.)

3: Picking Your Traits
Depending on the type of MYO slot you have, the traits you're allowed to use will change. If you're not sure, ask! Click the button below to visit the Trait Rules page which should help you out a lot!
If your perfect design doesn't meet these rules, don't fret - save the idea for later!

4: Making The Design
There are no color restrictions on Snakatoo fur, you can have any patterns and colors you like. The only restriction is blood color, which cannot be white. Snakatoo can also have clothing and accessories, especially food on their tails which is the most common.
(Evelyyan is in roughly the medieval age, so those are the types of clothes they wear lorewise.)
If you are having trouble with the way Snakatoo blood works, be sure to check out the blood guide!

5: Getting Approval
Once your design is finished, you can upload it to DeviantART and add it to the group's "Pending MYOs" folder. Be sure to have the traits and proof of your MYO in the description. An admin will check it for you, and if it's approved, you're good to go! If not, be sure to politely work with them to get it fixed.
After you get it approved, head on over to the masterlist account to have it uploaded! There's a journal there that will help you.
